LOOKS IN DETAIL: Snakepaw is a dark brown cat, with an unusual tabby tail, where the stripes are a lighter shade of brown. Snakepaw has short fur, but the fur get slightly thicker at his tail. One of his ears are torn, making a v shape right at the tip of his ear. His paws are a bit bigger than usual and he will soon become a full medicine cat.
PERSONALITY: Snakepaw is kind and sweet, but he is the adventurous kind. He can be a bit care free, but StarClan's dreams keep him focused on his duty. The scent of herbs lured Snakepaw to the Medicine Den, so he decided to be a Medicine Cat when he was right in the middle of Warrior training. His training got held up.

True, but who says that Brambleberry knows everything? Medicine Cats, as well as StarClan, cannot know every single thing, as stated numerous times in the last two arcs.
By revenge, I mean satisfying her need to see the decedents of her mate suffer. What better way to ensure that that would happen then by becoming a very strong influence on a young cat's personality? She wanted him to lead RiverClan to destruction, or at the least hard times, by giving them a Leader who felt overwhelmed with guilt. Crookedstar would feel miserable for the rest of his life, due to his 'promise', and most of RiverClan would probably suffer as well. We know what grief and guilt can do to a cat. Mapleshade clearly wanted Crookedstar to become Deputy, then Leader, though the squirrel omen. Clearly, given what she did both in the later series and how she reacted when seen near the end of the book, she did not have 'his best interests at heart'.
