Blinkpaw Stare into the heart of the Abyss They met here in the morning, this was where all warriors and their apprentices came before training. However Robinpelt was nowhere to be seen. Blinkpaw flicked his ears back for a second. However no irritation showed on his blank face. He didn't seem disturbed by the fact that his mentor was late. On the surface, nothing seemed to anger him or evoke any emotion at all. Blinkpaw sighed, his chest puffing out for a second. Then he sat and curled his tail around his paws. He slid his claws into the ground, imagining it was a cat beneath him. It didn't really matter if it were a foe-cat or not. Any cat would do, prehaps even a stupid little kittypet. Those fawning, useless, pathetic creatures. Oh how Blinkpaw hated them. They didn't deserve to live. He paused and flicked his tail a bit. Maybe when he had some training, when he was a true warrior. Then he would drive the kittypets away from the clan lands. Then he paused in his thoughts. No, he wouldn't drive them away. He would stalk them. One by one, until the two-leg place was a river of kittypet blood. An odd smile flicked over his face, looking very out of place, since it never reached his cold and lifeless eyes.

When she was assigned her first apprentice, Robinpelt was giddy with joy. "I promise I will be the best I can, and teach this new apprentice all I know." That was what she had promised to Blinkpaw, to Buzzardstar, and to herself.
Robinpelt saw her apprentice, Blinkpaw, waiting for her, and she walked patiently up to him, not wanting to look like an excited kit. As she was padding up to the new apprentice, she spotted a thrush on the ground, its head bent as it looked for nuts and worms. Instinctively, the light brown she cat crouched on the ground and slid towards it, until she was close enough. Robinpelt pounced, and killed the bird with a bite to the neck. She hoped that Blinkpaw had been watching. She walked calmly to him and set the thrush at his feet. "Good morning, Blinkpaw. Are you ready for your first assessment?"

Blinkpaw Stare into the heart of the Abyss Blinkpaw barely moved when his mentor showed up. However his eyes followed her as she stalked the bird. A smile curled on his lips as she killed the creature. He couldn't wait until he could do that. The thought of another life at the mercy of him thrilled him. He stood up as she walked towards him and greeted her with a polite nose touch. It was, after all, the proper thing to do. His eyes flicked downward for a moment as he eyed the thrush that lay dead at his paws. "I am ready." he mewed softly, sitting down again and curling his tail calmly around his feet. "What is the first assesment?" He asked, one ear flicking back a bit. "I believe that I am ready for anything that you will wish me to do, and I will do my best." he promised her. "Such is my duty to the clan and my duty to you." he said, his voice monotone and soft. There was no touch of pride or puff in his fur. It was as if he spoke simply for the sake of speaking. No emotion showed on his face and his eyes remained unfeeling, cold and dead as ever. It was as if there was no soul behind those moonlight green orbs. Not even a flicker of light, just a set of frozen pools of nothingness staring back at her. "We should begin." He said, in that same unpitched voice.

"Yes," Robinpelt replied. She was wary of this young cat. He had no clumsy excitement of a new apprentice, nor any excitement at all, as if he were as wise as their warrior ancestors of SkyClan. "Yes, lets." The mentor walked along, motioning with her tail for Blinkpaw to follow into the woods. "Tell me, Blinkpaw, what can you smell?" Their first assessment- tracking. Robinpelt was exceptionally good at this, the best tracker in the Clan. Robinpelt could smell plants, prey, and a few of her Clan mates; they were far away from Robinpelt and her apprentice, though. This all relied on what Blinkpaw smelled: the light brown she cat could not hint, nor suggest anything. If she did, the apprentice might simply take a guess, all for the sake of guessing. Yet Robinpelt could not see that in him. His voice was monotone and as cool as rain. He may not feel any feeling at all, simply understanding, and- dare she suggest it- betrayed a hint of ambition in his cold eyes.
Robinpelt did not trust him.

Blinkpaw Stare into the heart of the Abyss He carefully sniffed the air, his cold eyes half closed. "Mmmm..." Me mewed. "I smell... water, green things." he sniffed again, sorting the different smells in his mind. "I smell a mouse, but that's a bit stale." He added. He kept on sniffing, his tail flicking a bit. "I smell a bird, pheasent." he mewed, his eyes opening and a smirk playing on his lips for but a split second. He sat down. Pheasent was his favourite prey. Of course he usually ended up sharing it with his late mother. Until she had died of course. He stood and slowly turned to face his mentor. "Are we going to hunt the pheasent?" he asked. "Or did you just expect me to scent it?" He asked, his voice wasn't rude it was just mildly interested. "I would like to hunt." Talking of hunting brought only a sight raise of exicitment into is voice. It wasn't the hunting that thrilled him. Well that was part of it. It was the kill, the moment when his prey died at his claw that thrilled him. To be able to kill with his claws. He trembled slightly. Then that moment of antcipation was gone and he was cold again.

"Very good, Blinkpaw. Yes, we'll hunt. But first, where is the pheasant scent coming from?" this was easy;almost directly in front of them. "Now before you can kill the prey, you must learn how. Watch me, Blinkpaw." Robinpelt lightly stalked forward, her haunches flat on the ground, her tail sweeping behind her. Her pawsteps were so light it was as if they werent even touching the ground. Then she pounced on an invisible piece of prey. Robinpelt looked up. "just like that, Blinkpaw. Now I want you to try."
Robinpelt had seen the excitement in the calm apprentice when she had mentioned hunting. Very small, but she had seen it.
And it didn't seem like a good excitement.

Blinkpaw Stare into the heart of the Abyss Blinkpaw sniffed again, then turned his head into the slight breeze that was blowing. "It is that way." He stated. His eyes flicked over his mentor's form and he copied her movements. He had practiced this on a ball of moss ever since he was a mere kit. This would not be difficult for him. However... a ball of moss wouldn't fight back the way a bird fighting for its life would. He closed his eyes and remembered the killing bite he had learned. A quick blow to the back of the neck. It was a swift death. The kind that was needed when killing things quickly. The young tom wrinkled his nose a bit and shook his head. He wasn't fond of quick kills. However it was what needed to be done. A slight glimmer of light told him that the bird was not far off. The tom crouched low and slunk forward. Today was his day, his first blood. Blinkpaw felt his heart begin to beat faster, there was a slight trembling in his legs. For the first, no second, time in his life he felt excited.

Robinpelt watched Blinkpaw stalk the pheasant. The apprentice's poise was perfect, too perfect for a first time. The light brown she cat wished she could correct something... "Keep your tail down, Blinkpaw. If it hits any branches, it will alert the prey." Good... The apprentice was skilled. Too skilled for Robinpelt's liking. As she watched Blinkpaw, she thought about what else she would teach him today. If she could teach him anything. Just one thing- just one- that he needed perfection on, that was all she needed to feel like a real mentor. "Great, Blinkpaw, remember to pad lightly, and keep your tail down..." she whispered.

Blinkpaw Stare into the heart of the Abyss Blinkpaw obeyed, keeping his tail low. It was hard to keep his whole body from trembling. But he had to. He turned to eye his prey. The stupid bird was scratching at bugs. It didn't even notice him. In fact the idiot animal did nothing until just after the apprentice sprang. Slowly the bird turned around, saw the cat charging at it. Things clicked in its brain and it started to take to the air. It ran first, the clumbsy run of an animal that couldn't fly without a proper take-off first. Blinkpaw was after it, swiftly. He crouched and leapt. The bird took to the sky, however Blinkpaw's claws sunk into its wing. Apprentice and bird went down in a tumble of fur and feathers. The bird shook itself and started to run again, dragging a useless wing. Blinkpaw was after it, not pausing for a second. He leapt again, and landed square on the bird's back. Claws sunk into it and he bit into the back of its neck, delivering a swift and decisive death blow.

"Excellent, Blinkpaw!" Robinpelt complimented. "But you made too much noise. If you do it quietly, like I did, you don't scare off any other prey, because they don't hear anything. If they don't hear anything, they don't suspect anything, and they won't hide in their dens." Robinpelt was proud of her apprentice, and it shone in her eyes clearly.
"Alright, Blinkpaw. Are you ready to explore some more of the forest?" Robinpelt knew that Blinkpaw would probably jump with joy at the thought of seeing the whole forest. It was beautiful at this time of year; the shining grass, the blooming flowers, the budding trees, and the sun playing it's rays over you. Then again, it was lovely any time of the year. In winter, the soft white blanketing the world; in summer, the sun beating down and the lush greens brushing your fur softly; the autumn, Robinpelt's favorite time of year, when everything was painted with yellows and scarlets and oranges and the sun felt just perfect on your back. Robinpelt raised her tail in indication for Blinkpaw to follow, and looked over her shoulder, her leaf green eyes sparkling. "You want to see the forest?"

Blinkpaw Stare into the heart of the Abyss He turned to her, fur bristling slightly at her reproach. Then the irritation that flashed in his eyes vanished. "I understand." he mewed. "I am at a fault." he said, drawing a paw over his dead prey. His movements were almost gentle, and he trembled a bit as he thought of the moment he had killed the bird. He looked up at her as she began to speak again. She wanted to show him the forest. It was the smart thing to do, to know his territory. He knew, in his deepest heart, that one day he would rule these lands. "Where should I put the fresh-kill?" he asked, his eyes steady. (*pokes muse failure*)

Robinpelt willed herself to stay calm when her apprentice bristled. He quickly calmed down, though, much to the new mentors relief. Then the question of the kill. Easy. "Here, let me tell you, then show you, Blinkpaw," She replied. Robinpelt walked over to the bird and scraped dirt over it. "You scrape dirt over it so that you can save it. Then you come back to it when you're done. Don't worry, I'll let you do it later. Now follow me!"
Robinpelt was running through the forest. She flew over the ground and soared over logs. She hoped that Blinkpaw was following her well enough, but that thought didn't make her slow even a little. She didn't even look back.

I'd love to help, but the only contests I have run are very, very small clan contests, so I don't really have very many qualifications. So why do I want to hold contests? Well, mainly because I have many good ideas and because I would love to share them with everyone. Why do I think I'm qualified? Not sure. I have some good ideas, like I said before, but other than that, I'm just another guy. Oh, I almost forgot. I am very active on the forums, and I will be on here at every possible moment. I guess that I am also responsible, and I won't take advantage of the privileges given to me. Though I'm not sure if you can take my work for it. I must really want this... I've come back and edited this several times now. Then all I can do is hope.
