Diamond sat on the hard white fence, licking her paw and drawing it over her ear. She was trying to get rid of the wet feeling she always got after being near the waterfall; the mist stook to her fur more than kits to trouble. She gave up on her ears and gave her chest a few quick licks, before giving up altogether and looked around her for something better to do.
The sun was about to go down, and she turned her back to it, enjoying the warmth on her back. The usual heat of Greenleaf had died into a warm breeze, blowing softly on her face. She stared across the tops of the two-leg nests, into the gardens and yards.
Growling tired of the constant chatter of the two-leg kits, she began walking along the fences. She walked for a short time, and every once in a while a tiny little dog would run out of the nest and yap at her, scratching the fence. The weaker fences wobbled, but the lean cat kept her balance. ‘Stupid creatures.’ She thought dismissively.
Once the sun went down, she jumped onto the hard two-leg path. The hard, unnatural light hurt her eyes, and the scratchy surface hurt her paws, but she finally found her way out. She loved the soft grass under her paws, and began hunting for a bush to sleep under. After a short time, she dug herself a shallow nest, and she fell asleep the moment she laid down, hoping she wasn’t disturbed by some territorial cat like last time.
