Cometpaw Sometimes the heart sees what is invisible to the eye. Cometpaw clambered up to the cliff top and gazed up at the sky. Her thick tail coiled around her body and she took a deep breath. It was so lovely out. She could hear birds singing. The delicate little she-cat closed her purple eyes and sighed again. Then she opened her eyes and frowned slightly. Her ceremony was coming up. But in her time in the clan, a whole bunch of moons she wasn't sure how many. But in that whole time, well.... she hadn't gone to a gathering yet. She knew she wasn't a clever cat. And that she couldn't fight well, or hunt as well as the other apprentices. But she hated fighting. It was so... rough. She shook a little and pouted. "I don't have to be a warrior once I get my name." she mewed. Then she frowned a bit more, her brow furrowing. Why was swallowpaw the medicine cat apprentice and not her? She flicked her tail and huffed. She knew the answer, it was because that Swallowpaw was clever, and she was not. The little she-cat looked at her paws. She knew that she wasn't strong enough to be a warrior, not a good one at least. And she wasn't clever enough to be a medicine cat. Then a smile played on her lips. "I could be a queen." she mewed, talking to no one in particular. Her tail flicked. "I like kits, they're wonderful creatures." Her tail lashed happily. "And I could help other cats with their kits." She giggled. "Kits are so cute, and tiny.. and wonderful." She grinned. Yes, she would be a queen. She knew she would be good at that. She didn't have to be clever or strong to have kittens. Of course that left one question. What sort of name would Buzzardstar give her? She frowend a bit more, then smiled. Buzzardstar was such a handsome lovely cat. She hoped that he liked her. Maybe she could be his mate, because he was handsome and so lovely and perfect.

Swallowpaw stood at the mouth of the medicine den, her paws itching to be out. Surely she didn’t need a reason to go for a walk? She lashed her tail, before looking around the quiet camp. No one seemed to be in any sort of hurry on such a fine day. She padded out of the den nonchalantly, and made for the camp entrance. She slipped out without a second glance from any cat. She relaxed as the wind buffeted her fur once out of camp, loving the fresh scents all around her. She noted the scents of juniper and poppy, making a mental note to come back for some later. It was Greenleaf, and the whole world seemed to be flourishing with life. Not new life, like in Newleaf, but the kind of buzz that says ‘Life goes on.’ Greenleaf was always Swallowpaws favorite season, it made her feel more daring, braver, and more confident. Along with all other scents, she could smell a cat ahead of her. It only took her a moment to identify the cat as Cometpaw, a soon-to-be warrior. She padded up behind her, feeling rather unnoticed as the she-cat muttered to herself. “Hey, Cometpaw.” She meowed cheerfully. She flicked her whiskers, as Cometpaw didn’t seem to hear her. “Hi there, Cometpaw.” She repeated, this time seeming to interrupt whatever deep thought had been troubling the she-cat.

Cometpaw Sometimes the heart sees what is invisible to the eye. Cometpaw whirled around, her tail flicking a bit. Her eyes were wide with a mix of shock and fear for a moment. Then she took a deep breath and smiled. "Oh, it's you Swallowpaw." She mewed, her voice a little breathless. She blinked several times then took a deep breath as she began to groom her fur to help it lay flat again. There was a slight tremble about her as she groomed, she had obviously been badly shocked. However with her grooming she seemed to calm herself down. "You scared me Swallowpaw. You could have been some rogue sneaking up on me intent to have his way with me." She said, trembling again. Her mama had warned her such horrible things. She looked up at the sky. "But I guess a rogue wouldn't know my name." She flinched, realising how not-clever she sounded. She looked at Swallowpaw, jealous of the medicine cat apprentice. "You're lucky." she mewed. "You don't have to be a warrior, and you don't have to hunt. I'm bad at hunting and being a warrior." she mewed.

Swallowpaw tilted her head a bit at Competpaws words. Surely she wasn’t really JELOUS of Sparrowpaw, was she? It sure seemed like it, unless she was joking around; which, judging by her tone, she wasn’t. Everyone tended to be afraid of roughs, as no one in the clan was particularly used to dealing with them (except a few, of course). And as to her not being good at hunting, it wasn’t really all that true, for one. She wasn’t the best hunter, but she wasn’t a bad hunter either. “Cometpaw, you shouldn’t look down on yourself like that. If you think that way, you will make it true, when it’s really not.” She said, willing starclan to help her. She had never really tried to comfort someone, unless it was physical pain. But this called for a whole different kind of help, which she wasn’t sure she could offer. She looked toward the patch of trees where apprentices trained. She had often dreamed of going there and practicing with other apprentices, but it had never been a particularly happy dream. Always a bit dull with a lack of color. She forced herself to focus, remembering that she was meant to be talking to Cometpaw, and willed starclan to bring the right words to her mind. “Listen, Cometdream, just because you’re not a medicine cat doesn’t mean you’re useless. If you can bring yourself to believe you can do it, I’m sure you can!” Her words seemed to drift to her ears a bit late, and she realized she had accidently said ‘Cometdream’.

Cometpaw Sometimes the heart sees what is invisible to the eye. Cometpaw looked at her. "I don't look down I myself." she mewed. "I know that I'm just not as clever as the other apprentices. I don't need to be." she added. "I can be a queen, the clan will need kits" she smiled. "And I'm not great at the other stuff. Anyway. I don't like fighting." She protested. Her ears flicked back. "It's so rough." she shuddered a bit. Then flicked her ears back. "But I guess even Medicine cats get into fights." She said, her purple eyes flicking to the other cat's split ear. With a slight huff she sat down and pouted. Then her ears pricked up. "M-my name isn't Cometdream. Though that's a nice name." She paused. "D-do you think that will be my warrior name?" She asked, her purple eyes wide. "Some cats think it will be Cometflower." She paused again. "Freezepaw from MarshClan said it should be Cometcloud, because that's where he said my brains are." she added.

“Yes, I think that would be a GREAT name for you.” Swallowpaw purred, relaxing to see her words had made Cometpaw happy. She made a mental note to speak with Sunpelt about this later; for some reason, she felt it had something to do with starclan. “But I guess even medicine cats get into fights.” Cometpaw said, casting her eyes over Swallowpaws roughly torn ear. “Oh, this?” She said, flicking her good ear. “It’s nothing. Hurt when I got it of course, but I can still hear well enough.” Swallowpaw was beginning to like Cometpaw. She seemed like a nice cat, even if she was a bit down. Then she got an idea. “All right Cometpaw, how about this. If I’m ever hurt, you can be the medicine cat apprentice ‘till I’m better, ok? And, you can help me pick up some herbs, as long as we’re out already.” She said cheerfully. She was always grateful for an extra mouth to carry herbs, and extra paws for picking them. Plus, Cometpaw would be good company.

Cometpaw Sometimes the heart sees what is invisible to the eye. The young she-cat pricked up her ears and praticaly beamed at the medicine cat. "You really think so." She said, affirming what had been said to her. "Cometdream." She purred, her chest puffing up. "But I guess Buzzardstar will pick whatever he thinks is best. And whatever he thinks is best is best." She sighed, a happy look on her face. "He's so dreamy." She purred some more, her eyes looking hazy and happy as she thought of the big handsome leader. "Pick herbs with you? I'd love too. That way when I notice them when I'm out on patrol I can pick some up for you if you want." She squealed happily. "I mean we always need herbs." She paused. "You know, what would happen if you put poppy seeds in the ground. Would you get more poppies?"

Swallowpaw purred at Cometpaws happiness. It seemed as if she had cheered her up all right! “Yeah, that’s true, you will be a lot of help!” Swallowpaw said. She didn’t have a response to the comment on Buzzardstar; as a medicine cat, she was forbidden to fall in love or have kits. She had heard stories of medicine cats that had had kits, and they all ended about the same way. It had devastated and shocked the clan, and had, all in all, ended very badly for everyone. “And, to be completely honest, I don’t know.” She said, pushing her straying thoughts from her mind. “I never really thought about it… We can ask Sunpelt after we get back with the herbs!” The two cats set off in search of herbs, chatting merrily.

I'd like to help. I might not have made any contests in the past, nor have I spent much time on the contest board, so I can't give any examples, but I have a good knowledge of the rules, and if I took a few minutes to think of a contest, I'm sure I'd get some good ideas (Like, maybe, an art contest where you draw a picture of what you think a video game character would look like if it were a dragon. Or a lair contest where you have to remake, or simply make a lot of changes to, your lair.) I've been around for a year. A lot of people say I'd be great as a judge, and that I'm a great thinker. I have a lot of free time on occasion, and I'd like to use that time to help others. I have no experience as a moderator, but you have to start somewhere, I suppose. It's okay if I don't get a spot, really, but I do want to help out DA any way I can. If I get a spot, I promise I won't slack off. I admit I'm pretty hopeful for a chance to use my time for something helpful.
