Red coats on a cat are sex linked. That is they're found on the XX/XY chromosomes. They are also somewhat co-dominant. When a male has them, he only gets one (on the X of the XY). So males with red mamas are always red or some varation there-of. Females with a single genetic sequence for red (fond on one of the X chromosomes) come out calicos and torities. Gentically speaking, Birchkit couldn't be red. Here's the best page I've found on it www.bio.miami.edu/dana/dox/calico.html

Though it may be true that majority of ginger cats are males i know a cat who is orange, has an orange brother, and an orange mom, and she is orange, so it is possible

yes, orange female /are/ possible. but only if they have two orange alleles. this little sweetie would only have one. but it's your kit, so I'm not going to tell you how to create her. Only telling you why I can't play her. (Seriously, I can't come up with a bio on account of her being ginger when she shouldn't. It bugs me. Can I maker her a calico or a tortie? Or just leave her?)

Um, you can make her grey, because Foxtail's sister is grey or a calico or tortie if you want, sure, I just want them to be played

"Look, kid, I can see what you're doing. You can't accept that not everyone loves your favorite character, so you think it's your job to try to convert everyone. But here's the thing.
What you're doing isn't just obnoxious, it's downright rude. How would you like it if I came on every thread you've posted on and told you to love Mapleshade? I'm guessing you'd be pretty annoyed, maybe even ready to go into an all-caps rage on me. I'm pretty sure the people on this board you haven't driven away are tired of reporting you, so I'd recommend that you accept the opinions of others. It'll do you better in the long run."
