A red tom will always sire calico she-cats when paired with a non-red female A red tom will never sire a red son A red queen will always bear red sons A red queen, when crossed with a non-red tom, will always bear calico or torite she-kits A calico is almost never a male, and when it is, it is mostly never fertile unless it is a chimeria. www.bio.miami.edu/dana/dox/calico.htmlwww.hdw-inc.com/genetics.htmI just had to say this.

interesting. what happens if both of them are red?
and tbh i don't really..pay attention to genetics. i'm not bothered by them. my cats tend to look however i want them to. xD regardless of mother and father - though some hold their color to some degree.
i'm more concerned with actual personalities and all. but i think it's funny that i made a mary sue thread and you made a pelt thread. XD WE'RE LIKE YING AND YANG.

well... if they're red and red. And red is cod-minant. then the cat turns out red, all of the kittens. I live by genetics because all the gene markers for coat colour are the same.

There are some exceptions though, i know a red tom who mated with a red female and had two red kits, the rest were white. The kits were male and female. and the white came from the dads mom, who mated with an orange female to make him. So there are always exceptions to the genetic code, especially when it comes to animals.

Are you sure that 1. They were both solid red and not red and white 2. He was the ONLY male that she mated to

Yup, they're inside cats, and they didn't get out, and none of them were orange and white

what colour were the kitten's eyes? This could be a case of ressesive genetics. Green eyed white is dominant. Blue eyed white isn't. Blue eyed white is ressesive to everything. However that means it can be carried unnoticed. Seriously, cat genetics are really complex.
For example, if you clone a torite. The resulting offspring will not have the same pattern as it's doner. Part of the marking set comes from in-eutro hormone effects.

I just want to know why its such an issue, this is all made up, cats that fight in clans with names like that and have a leader and medicince cats etc, arent real anway. Isn't that why we make them so different, becuase we like to pretend?

Just a pet peeve of mine. But the biggest part is male calicos. You can make them however you wish.

i do stray from making male calicos because i know that's a very VERY rare one, but otherwise i don't stick to genetics. xD

Click spam is against the forum rules, putting “visit my dragon/egg” or “click on my dragon/egg” or “visited yours” or anything to that effect is considered click spam. Also, putting you adoptable in your post is also against forum rules unless it is your Lair, you can put all your adoptables in your signature if you wish to show them off. --How to Put Your Dragons In Your Signature-- As you should know after reading the rules, your signature is the only place you can post your dragon on the forum, besides the Adoptables Lair. I repeat, you cannot put your dragon or any other adoptable in posts. So here, I will give you a tutorial on how to properly put your new dragon friend into your signature.
Step 1: Get your dragons' image or link code.
-> Unlike before, there isn't any link to your dragon page at the top of the forum. This is because the forum and the main site (for your dragons) are now separated. How do I go to my dragon page? Let us say a member named xxx wants to find his/her dragon page, then his/her dragon page can be found at xxx.dragonadopters.com. (The xxx is just a sample.)
Once you get to your dragon page, of course, you must see your dragons. You have now to scroll down to where you can see the code boxes. Unlike before, we have a new thing for your dragons. That's the mini-banner. Select and copy all the text inside one of the Forum Code boxes, whether it be Animated GIF, Mini-Banner or Static PNG.
Proceed to the forum index and then to your profile. (Forum Index -> Profile Tab)
Step 2: Go to your profile.
-> Click the 'Profile' tab on the navigation bar, underneath your forum avatar and the forum advertisement. Step 2: Edit your signature.
-> On your forum profile, hover over the 'Modify Profile' tab and then click 'Forum Profile' from the dropdown menu.
Scroll down to the text box that is labeled Signature, and paste the dragon code into the box. Then click the Change Profile button.
Congratulations! Your dragon is now in your signature and ready to face the world!

Sibling rivalry is a big thing. Sometimes I truly detest my sister, and Ivypool was just jealous like I am sometimes. How was she supposed to know who Tigerstar was? It's not like kits get told stories of an evil cat. And besides, both Tiger and Hawk are brown tabbies, the most common type of feral cat. She didn't know who they were and trusted that they were training her to be a good warrior. Plus, she realized who they were and became a spy for the Clans, so she can't be that bad!
