Oakfrost stretched his brown legs out in front of him as the sun warmed his short pelt. Stretching his back legs this time, he decided a nice walk sounded good, and he might do some hunting as well. He hadn't been assigned to any patrols that day, so he had just been relaxing. Twitching his long, thin whiskers, Oakfrost padded farther out into the meadow. Tasting the scent of rabbit in the air, he remembered that he had promised the Medicine Cat apprentice, Whitepaw, he would help him gather herbs, but, as of yet had heard nothing else from the tom. Shrugging the thought off, Oakfrost began to follow the smell of prey, alert for any movement. Spotting the rabbit he had been tracking, Oakfrost crouched and began to inch forward. Closing approximately have of the distance between himself and the prey, Oakfrost took an enourmous leap. It seemed at first that he would catch the rabbit, but he overshot it and landed in a small patch of weeds a tail length or so from where he had intended. "Mouse-dung!" He cursed out loud to himself as the prey caught sight of him and ran off. Sighing, Oakfrost laid down and began to lick his large paws, clearing the pollen from the small weeds he had made his landing in off. He would find more prey later.. for now he would just enjoy the sun on his pelt.

Whitepaw slunk across the ground, making sure no one saw him, and also making sure he didn't lose his balance on his three legs. Yes, three. He had been born with only three legs, while his mother died while giving birth. Whitepaw saw Oakfrost. He had been looking for him ever since he had snuck out of camp. The brown warrior was hunting a rabbit, but Whitepaw saw him miss, and the rabbit ran straight toward Whitepaw. Now, the rabbit was almost as big as Whitepaw himself. It had flung itself under his white belly, and Whitepaw had collapsed on it with with an "Oof!" Whitepaw had always wondered what it was like to catch prey, and here was his chance, sitting right in front of the snowy apprentice. So, gingerly, Whitepaw held the rabbit still under his paws while it squirmed around mightily, bent down, and bit its neck like it was a clump of ferns sticking out of the ground, waiting to be picked. The prey fell dead at his paws, and Whitepaw felt a surge of pride. He had never killed anything before, let alone trap something. So, with an air of cockiness, Whitepaw strode over to Oakfrost with the huge rabbit in his jaws, and set it before the warrior. "I think you were looking for this," the medicine cat apprentice said, grinning, his dark green eyes gleaming.

Oakfrost was about to start walking again when he heard a loud noise and turned his head to see another cat catch the rabbit he had been chasing. Looking closer, Oakfrost could see only three white legs, and immediately knew that it was Whitepaw. He watched the tom make an alright kill for a cat of his size and position. Staring towards the Medicine Cat apprentice in general surprise and curiousity, he began to speak. "So, if finnally found you. Er.. you found me. Either way, do you still want me to help you collect herbs with you?" In his honest opinion, Oakfrost saw collecting herbs as a boring job, but he knew it was essential to keep his clan healthy. He still wasn't very fond of doing himself, and he didn't know how the medicine cats could do it almost every day, but he wouldn't break his promise to the small tom in front of him. "First, though," Oakfrost intoned. "We'll need to bury that rabbit to collect later. But when were through, we'll go get all the herbs you need."

Whitepaw had expected he brown warrior to congratulate him. Instead, Oakfrost sonded awkward. The apprentice felt angry. The rabbit was as big as he was! It would feed so man of their Clan mates. And, of course, Whitepaw wasnt appreciated for what he had done. Again. Whitepaw gave a soft growl of frustration and set the rabbit down, covering it with dirt half half-heartedly. "There. But I would like to carry it back to camp. It...would be nice to be recognized for something...besides medicine cat stuff," he growled, trying to cover his anger with politeness and respect. Whitepaw limped over to some plants, and raised his tail for the warrior to follow. "This," the snowy apprentice said,"is dock. You pick the leaves and chew them to a pulp. You then spread them on scratches or open wounds to stop infection. After that you apply cobwebs, but we won't collect any today." Whitepaw looked back at Oakfrost. "I hope I'm not boring you to death by this, Oakfrost."

As you all may have noticed when you logged on today, WE HAVE A NEW FORUM THEME. Many users requested we don't use the default theme, so we changed it now.
However you're still able to use the old default theme if you wish, just go to your Profile / Look and Layout / Current Theme and change it there to 'Forum or Board Default'.
This new theme is a modified version of the Dragonadopters Game theme if you noticed the similarities. However we removed the orange link colors because they didn't look good on the forum. But overall I think this new theme is much closer to the game theme now and the forum doesn't look DEFAULT anymore. Send a thank you to Thaz who designed this new forum theme.
Enjoy!
