Hey, guys! My only character currently is Joyheart, deputy of Mistclan. Quick description, he's a playful clever young tom with a light blond-like coat and blue eyes. I'm mostly looking for some friendships for him and any other plot or thread ideas. I've already found a lover for him, (one of Bridger's characters,) so I'm looking thread ideas and friends for the most part. I'm up to all sorts of plots so just start spouting ideas. Well....Frostheart can be his friend... acquaintance thing. Joyheart could also be there perhaps when Frostheart finds his kits. *shrugs* Actually he might be alone when he finds him, but JOyheart is likely the first person he'l go to with the kits.

The first one refers to, so far at least, a debater who is calm and polite. The second is biased and opinionated, but not rude, and the third is a biased and rude debater. I would respond to the third by saying, "That's your opinion; I have a different one. I believe that Hollyleaf isn't the best cat because...[reasons]...; that's why I dislike Hollyleaf.

Okay, there are several ways to deal with rude debaters. The one who I use most often follows the same system that I present for dealing with trolls is FSG, with some slight changes. It's called TRIAL.
The T stands for "Tell Them the Truth". This means telling them, in a calm, polite manner, that they're being rude and you won't debate with them if they don't stop. I don't recommend this one unless everything else has failed, as it tends to only make them blow up at you more. Which, ironically, only proves your point.
The R stands for "Report". If they're being rude, just tell the mods! Being rude would qualify as making personal attacks on you and/or other debaters who take your side, not just an overly opinionated statement. This is the best recommended strategy.
The I stands for "Ignore". They're not debating in a civil manner, so don't give them anything else to work with! They'll more than likely take the hint when they see that their posts are the only ones you aren't responding to. I would recommend using this along with "Report". Remember, part of ignoring them is not telling them you reported them!
The A stands for "Attack". Attack their "reasonings" with logic and point out everything that makes it flawed. If they're saying, "Brightheart stole Leafpool's job and was mean to everyone!" (Yes, I've actually seen that argument, word-for-word), tell them something like, "Those are opinions, and I won't debate with you unless you back them up with evidence from Warriors." Remember to only target the rant and never call them out unless they're getting ridiculous, such as contradicting themselves or canceling out previous arguments whenever you prove them wrong.
The "L" stands for "Leave". Just leave the thread until they cool down. If you haven't been able to set them straight, chances are another member will. And sometimes, this really is all you can do. Now, who can tell me the signs of a rude debater?
